Our Council met at Hell ‘n Blazes for our August business meeting. At this meeting our District Deputy, Doug Blair presented the council with three awards. The first was the Florida State Council Third Place Membership Award for achieving 179% of our Membership Goals as of the end of March 2019. Our Council also received an award for Membership and Insurance Excellence for achieving 100% of our Membership and Insurance goals by the end of the 3rd quarter of the Fraternal Year. Finally, we received the Bronze Sponsor Award for our efforts in supporting the Ultrasound Initiative as part of our Pro-Life activities. All three awards recognized our 2019-2020 Grand Knight Bob Krenzer. All of these awards are testament to the active nature of the Bishop Verot Council.

To achieve this award it takes thousands of man-hours and support from the Holy Name of Jesus and Immaculate Conception Communities. The award itself is a great honor, but what is really important is the impact those activities have on the lives and spirituality of those we serve. Last year the Bishop Verot Council helped sponsored scholarships to HNJ and MCC schools, we provided financial support to enable young people to attend Vacation Bible School, Edge and Lifeteen Retreats, we supported Special Olympics, we helped fund ultrasound machines and pay for Pro-Life Billboards, we provided financial support to vocations and much more. Our financial support to these various activities was made possible by the generous support of our parishioners and friends in our various fundraisers, especially with our Christmas tree sales and fish dinners.

The Knights of Columbus has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as a 2017 World’s Most Ethical Company for the fourth consecutive year. This recognition underscores the organization’s commitment to leading ethical business standards and practices. K of C, known also for its extensive charitable activities, was one of only two life insurance companies to earn the designation for 2017.
